Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and his Georgetown Prep friends mentioned a girl named Renate Schroeder in their yearbook pages in an apparent boast of having sexual relations with her — a claim that Kavanaugh and his friends deny.
According to a Monday New York Times report, Kavanaugh’s personal page is tagged with “Renate Alumnius.” A picture of him and other football players is emblazoned with “Renate Alumni.”
Schroeder, now Renate Schroeder Dolphin, attended a nearby Catholic school.
“They were very disrespectful, at least verbally, with Renate,” Sean Hagan, a Georgetown Prep classmate of Kavanaugh, said to the New York Times. “I can’t express how disgusted I am with them, then and now.”
Dolphin had been one of the 65 women who signed a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee attesting to Kavanaugh’s integrity after professor Christine Blasey Ford accused him of sexual assault. Dolphin only found out about her many mentions in the yearbook recently.
“I learned about these yearbook pages only a few days ago,” Dolphin told the New York Times. “I don’t know what ‘Renate Alumnus’ actually means. I can’t begin to comprehend what goes through the minds of 17-year-old boys who write such things, but the insinuation is horrible, hurtful and simply untrue. I pray their daughters are never treated this way.”
In a response, Kavanaugh’s lawyer released a statement. “Judge Kavanaugh and Ms. Dolphin attended one high school event together and shared a brief kiss good night following that event,” the statement reads. “They had no other such encounter. The language from Judge Kavanaugh’s high school yearbook refers to the fact that he and Ms. Dolphin attended that one high school event together and nothing else.”
Dolphin denies ever kissing Kavanaugh.
Per the New York Times, four men with the “alumni” caption say it’s just a reference to dates they all went on with her. Mark Judge, the accused accomplice in Kavanaugh’s alleged sexual assault of Blasey Ford, is also in a picture bearing the caption.
Kavanaugh was also reportedly listed as “treasurer of the Keg City Club” on his personal page.
